The author Pamela Munro is a trained linguistic who worked with fluent speaker Catherine Willmond to produce this first book about learning the Chickasaw language. The two authors developed the spelling system that is based on earlier orthographies for Chickasaw and Choctaw. The book has been classroom tested over a number of years and this publication can ensure the continuation of the endangered Chickasaw language.
